A freshman to the public but a seasoned performer, Mariel Jacoda is taking the industry on a lyrically driven, soul-packed and alternative R&B ride, with no apologies, great vibes and a hell of a voice. Her first introduction to success on the larger scale was after penning a collaboration track that landed on David Guetta’s Nothing But The Beat, which he called “a dream come true,” as he let it kickstart his journey into the fusion of hip hop and EDM. They left the cheeky track, “I Just Wanna F”, in the hands of Dev and Timbaland, then she hit the ground running into her next venture — signing a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell.
Mariel had previously spent years writing and performing in much different circles –surrounded by a rock band, dancing with a girl group, performing on a national television show or barefooted with her guitar– which has left her with a rich internal music palette that she lives to share. Raised in Salt Lake City, she moved to LA at 19 to focus on her crafts, and has since travelled coast to coast, “leaving my voice in as many places as I can,” as she puts it. She has joined forces with Therapist Music, a team which has been a positive outlet for increased opportunities, and aside from writing for other artists she has been assiduously working on the completion of her debut album.
